Opulent Obsidian - one outstanding ornament

6/15/2014

All varieties of obsidian crystal share the same fundamental healing characteristics; yet, each colour of obsidian has specific metaphysical properties.
This stunning and unique stone is actually a naturally occurring volcanic glass, formed during the slow cooling process of lava.

The result is a very glossy stone with a variety of bands and flecks, often dark in colour. As obsidian rock is found all over the world, in regions where volcanoes are present, these stones can contain different minerals, leading to a variety of different colour formations.

Using Obsidian for Health and Healing

Although always dark, obsidian can come in a range of colours, from midnight blue to reddish black.
  • Blue obsidian is connected with the throat chakra; enhancing metaphysical pursuits and connections. It helps with astral travel, telepathy, and divination. Physically, it is good for speech problems, multiple personality disorder, and pain.
  • Electric-blue obsidian also helps with psychic and spiritual communication. An elixir of this healing crystal benefits the eyes.
  • Blue-green obsidian is a balancing stone, encouraging truth and understanding. It helps the body utilize vitamin A and E.
  • Gold obsidian is ideal for scrying, for understanding the root of problems and illnesses.
  • Mahogany obsidian is strongly connected with the earth, grounding, drawing on strength when needed. For physical healing, it is good for pain and improving circulation.
  • Rainbow obsidian is ideal for those seeking a gentle form of this protective crystal. It also helps to relieve stress.
  • Silver obsidian is a metaphysical crystal for perseverance, patience, and astral work.

All colours of obsidian crystal are stones of positive energy, as they empower one to overcome negative energy. They protect and strengthen when needed, and comfort in times of sadness. Obsidian is a remarkable healing stone, greatly beneficial for those with positive intent.

Maximize the Maxi

5/24/2014

The casual, comfortable, and convertible style of the "maxi" is easy breezy for all body types. Geometric prints, overstated florals, and bright solids are fun to wear, but tricky to accessorize. Check out these simple tricks to take your maxi from casual to charismatic.         ~ Lindsay

Enlarged florals give this floating maxi a variety of colour to choose from. Pick a few shades of similar tones to play with. Have fun with these! A little green, turquoise, a softer pink and a little earth tones make this fun and flirty.
I adore matte metals. Try a matte yellow gold or copper with this palette. Soft and plays up the colour nicely.

* smokey quartz, chalcedony & tourmaline accents

Chunky yet sleek hammered sterling takes this beautiful ombre to another level. Silver beaded sandals and oversized sunglasses give you classic glam and on trend in one stunning swoop.

* .925 Sterling & leather

Boho, Aztec, and Tribal prints are a blast to wear and a great way to show off your favourite colours all in one place!

Keep the balance with warm woods and earthy blends. Oversized layered bracelets and a great set of earrings are great accompanied with a loose wave in the hair and great pair of flat sandals.

* natural dye free woods, copper & leather

Solid Maxi? Possibilities are endless!
Layers of crystals and pearls, a pair of sparkling peep toe heels and a night on the town.
Multicoloured and Multi-metals, long and lean.
Large clusters of raw faceted gemstones or a great set of chandeliers in a rustic antiqued tone.
Good for the body and good for the soul, NDD gemstone healing bracelets. Stack them high, mix and match, add charms, initials, and so much more!

Season of Unconventional

3/1/2014

Picture
"The Season of Unconventional Colour" is upon us for 2014.

With plays on primary; blended with greys and blues. This palette, as unconventional as some see it, is stunning!
Bold combinations of loud statement pieces in muted/mutated tones - my favourite thus far. These colours have reached in and taken my creativity to a whole other level. I hope they inspire you as much as they have inspired me.

Sangria, an exotic red that evokes a sense of glamorous adventures and faraway destinations is enhanced by Aurora Red, a more sophisticated shade that adds verve and spark.

The grown-up reds are followed by two extremes of the purple family that intrigue the eye and inspire the imagination. Mauve Mist, a romantic and elegant purple shade, reminds us of the deco era and stimulates a sense of femininity and empowerment, while Radiant Orchid, a captivating and adaptable shade, enchants the complete spectrum. Pair either with Cypress, a majestic and powerful green; indicative of its name, this shade has a towering presence and serves as a stunning perennial.

With its slightly green undertone, Bright Cobalt offers a subtle twist on the traditional cobalt blue, which unifies this season’s blues. Likewise, Royal Blue, which is both evocative and dignified, provides more complexity and excitement than the average navy, while still remaining versatile. Pair Bright Cobalt with Sangria and Cypress, or Royal Blue with Mauve Mist and Aluminum, a futuristic stainless steel shade that serves as a complex neutral.

Similar to Sangria, Cognac’s name alone leads to glamorous illusions. This classy and cultured brown takes a typical autumnal color to a sumptuous realm, making the shade unexpectedly ideal for evening wear. Adding a ray of sunlight and warmth, optimistic Misted Yellow alludes to the promise of spring to come. Both Cognac and Misted Yellow will also be prevalent in prints—a surprisingly popular trend this fall season.
